Check & Connect
An evidence-based mentoring program that builds student engagement with school and learning.
Check & Connect supports students who show warning signs of disengaging from school and who may be at risk of dropping out. At its core is a trusting relationship between the student and a caring mentor (an Outreach Worker).
Check
Mentors regularly check in on each student's engagement with school by closely monitoring attendance, behaviour and grades.
Connect
Mentors offer individualized support in partnership with school staff, families and community service providers.
Partner
Mentors act as a liaison between home and school, building constructive family-school relationships.
Elementary
Grades 4–7
Primarily for students who are absent from school 10% to 20% of the time or who struggle with arriving late. It can also be adapted for younger students. 成人视频 are referred to the program, and other details such as family history are taken into account.
Secondary
Grades 8–12
For students who show warning signs of disengaging from school, such as poor attendance, behavioural issues and/or low grades. 成人视频 are referred to the program.
